Nothing that follows you, only what the app needs to work
The short version. This site sets no cookie at all, and loads nothing from anyone else — the fonts, the styles and the images all come from this domain. The application does keep things in your browser, because a tool that works offline has to; none of it is a cookie, and none of it follows you anywhere. That is also why you are not being asked to click through a consent banner.
1. This site sets no cookie
The pages you are reading now — the home page, this one, the others — store nothing on your device and make no request to a third party. There is no audience measurement, no advertising pixel, no social button that phones home. Nothing here needs your consent, because nothing here is collected.
2. What the application keeps, and why
The application is a different matter: it holds your collection on your own machine, which is the whole point of it. Here is everything it stores, under what name, and for how long.

Two things are true of this whole list. None of it is a cookie — nothing is attached to your requests and sent to a server on every page load. And none of it identifies you to anyone: it is read by the application, on your machine, for your benefit.
3. Why there is no consent banner
European rules require consent before storing anything on your device that is not strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for. Everything in the table above is strictly necessary in exactly that sense: remove your collection and there is no product; remove the session and you are signed out on every reload; remove the appearance keys and the screen flashes at every load.
We have nothing else to store, so there is nothing to ask you about. If that ever changes — if we were to add an audience measurement tool, for instance — this page would change first and you would be asked before anything was set.
4. When you pay
Paying takes you to Stripe's own pages, which set their own cookies on their own domain, under Stripe's policy rather than this one. They are needed to process the payment and to detect fraud. We receive no cookie from that visit; we receive the fact that a payment succeeded.
5. Erasing it, and what you lose
You can clear everything from your browser's settings — « clear site data », or the equivalent wording in your browser. Be aware of what it takes with it: your local collection is part of that data. If you have no account, or if your collection has never synchronised, clearing it means losing your cards.
Export first. The .apkg export takes a moment and gives you a file nothing can take away.
6. Changes to this page
If what the application stores changes, this page changes with it, and the effective date at the top moves. Questions: recallnote@proton.me.
